Highlights

 Trail from the First Cross Day Use Area along the river to Sage Hill Campground. Several pools and river crossings along the way. Provides an opportunity for a loop hike via Upper Oso and the Sage Hill trail.

  • Season : All year except when crossing the river is too dangerous.
  • Restrictions : Multi-Use; expect to encounter mountain bikes and equestrians.

  • Admin : Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara District

Access / Getting There

  1. From Highway 154, follow Paradise Road to the east for 4 miles and turn left at the entrance to the Los Prietos Ranger Station.
  2. Follow the paved road past the station and across the Santa Ynez River into the campground.
  3. You will need an Aventure Pass to park in the Sage Hill Campground area.
  4. A variety of interpretive materials can be purchased at the Ranger Station along with your Adventure Pass.
  5. The other end of the river trail can be accessed from the First Crossing Day Use Area.
