The locals call it Hendry's Beach a place to meet for breakfast or a cocktail at sunset, stroll or jog the sandy shore, watch for whales, surf fish, or ride the wild surf. Known for its sandy beaches, swimming, surfing and surf fishing, this park also offers a cool grassy area for picnics and playing. The MTD bus stops at the park entrance.

 

 

Beach Walk Details

  • Length : 1 mile east to Mesa Lane; 3 miles east to Shoreline park; 3 miles west to More Mesa; 6 miles west to Goleta Beach
  • Tide Notes : Accessible in both directions at medium tides.
  • Cautions : You need to cross the creek if you are heading east along the beach towards Mesa Lane.
  • UseFees : None
  • Canine : OK for dogs on leash to the west; off leash OK to the east.

Access / Parking

  1. From State Street, follow Highway 101 west for 2.8 miles to the Las Positas off ramp.
  2. Turn towards the ocean and drive slightly more than a mile to Cliff Drive.
  3. Turn right and look for the park entrance on the left in several hundred yards.
