Location
Figueroa Mountain
Elevation: 3650 ft. The Lookout Mountain Trail follows along the crest of the ridge from the end of the Zaca Ridge Road out to Lookout Mountain with a steep descending trail on the west side of Zaca Peak from the ridge top down to the lake. This ridge begins on the east at Zaca Peak an extends westward to Lookout Mountain, forming the south side of the Zaca syncline. The lake is located at the bottom of the syncline and was formed when a gigantic landslide slide down from the north side of Zaca Peak and dammed up the canyon. The rocks forming the ridge are of Monterey shale of the Miocenee. They are composed of a white chalky platy siliceous material. (Source: Jim Blakley)
