One of the most beautiful strolls through an oak woodland environment. Almost entirely level. The oak forests are deep in the heart of Montecito and provide a glimpse of why this area received its name which means "little forest" or "little woods" in Spanish.

Access / Getting There

  1. From Santa Barbara, drive southbound on Highway 101  and exit on San Ysidro Road in Montecito.
  2. Turn left, cross under Highway 101, and continue 50 yards to a small dirt parking area on the right side of the road and opposite the Ortega Hill/Sheffield Road intersection.
  3. There is additional parking on the east side of Ortega Hill. To reach it continue up Ortega Hill to the Ortega Ridge intersection then bear to the right on Ortega Hill Road and drive several hundred yards downhill towards Summerland. Look for the small parking area on the right.
