Along with El Capitan, one of the nicest beach parks along the Southern California coast. While there isn’t enough beach to the west to walk in that direction except at the very lowest tides, a bike path and quiet two mile stretch of beach leading to El Capitan make up fot this.

Beach Walk Details

  • Length : 1 mile east to Corral Beach; 2.5 miles east to El Capitan; 2 miles west to Tajiguas Beach.
  • Tide Notes : You can't venture too far either east or west on the beach unless the tide is close to or below 2.0 but you can make it all the way to El Capitan and at minus tides you can make it around Refugio Point and walk west along a very nice stretch of beach.
  • Accessibility : Beach wheelchairs are available for use by the public at no cost. With this specially designed chair, wheelchair users may access the beach at several locations. Contact a ranger or lifeguard for additional information.
  • UseFees : $10 daily
  • Canine : Dogs are not allowed on state park beaches. Elsewhere within the park on leash only.

Access / Parking

  1. From Fairview Avenue in Goleta, follow Highway 101 west for 14 miles (22.5 miles from downtown Santa Barbara) to the Refugio turnoff.
  2. There is no longer free parking under the freeway although some will park acoss from the off ramp on the right where there currently aren't any "no parking" signs but this could change. If you decide to park outside a trail leads directly into the park.
  3. For those who would like to drive into the park, presently the daily fee is $10 per car.
